We all love sharing a good story. Susan majored  in British and American Literature, completing her degree as a young mother of three. Her husband scooped up the children and lined them up on the stadium bleachers with their McDonald’s burgers to cheer for their mother on graduation day. She went on to teach and write (late into the night). The stories continued as the family traveled on military assignment and horizons widened and the stories grew. Sue returned to college years later to deepen her writing and artistic skills. Her short stories have won awards. Browse through this gallery of recent work by Susan McKee, a California artist. Most of the paintings are mixed media, largely collage, mixed with ink or  acrylic. There are some oils, and some watercolors. Susan began serious study of art at the University of California, Berkeley. She followed with courses in Europe, and still continues to stretch in classes and workshops, both teaching and learning in California where she now lives with her husband. Her extensive world travel is the inspiration for landscape vistas and old world charm. For many years she enjoyed Pleine Air painting of the gorgeous California vistas, working in several media, and more recently has turned to what she calls "Peoplescapes," capturing people at ease in a natural, relaxed environment.

A year and a half living and teaching English in mainland China changed both her palette and medium. Collage or “paper mosaics” seem to best capture this life-changing experience.
